Kai Stewart is a Fashion and Accessory Designer currently living and working in West Wales. She grew up in Llangwm, a small village in Pembrokeshire and after working in a Solicitors’ Office for a few years she decided to enter back into full time education to study her long time dream of becoming a Fashion Designer. A highlight of her time throughout University was being shortlisted for a competition with River Island and also having a design from her graduate collection sent to London Graduate Fashion Week. In her final year Kai was awarded ‘Best Student for the Art Category’ in Carmarthenshire County, her tutor and nominator stated that she is ‘an inspiration to anyone studying higher education’. Throughout her time at University, Kai gained a range of experience within the industry from working a few days alongside a Designer producing hand-made leather bags, to then working for three years alongside a bespoke Fashion Designer. In December 2013 Kai exhibited at the Clothes Show Live where her accessory designs were a huge success and sold out within the first two days! Kai draws inspiration from mixing recycled components with luxury materials and fabrics for a totally unique look. Texture playing a key role: she has teamed wood, metal and leather with sandwash silk prints. Her graduate collection ‘Quirky Folk’ was inspired by the old keepsakes of family members and the belongings they would not part with. Kai aims to create quirky garments that are also stylish and wearable.
Jaxxon House was created by Kai during her final year in University, although it had been a dream for many years to build an online platform to sell her own designs and accessories, other designers work and also making vintage and second hand clothing accessible and affordable. The name ‘Jaxxon’ was inspired by Kai’s original surname ‘Jackson’ after her father’s side of the family.
